Strong rainfall in Liaoning continues Dandong’s second largest flood since usher in New China

According to statistics from the meteorological department, as of 6 o'clock on August 22, the fifth round of heavy rainfall in Liaoning continued.

From 6 o'clock on the 21st to 6 o'clock on the 22nd, heavy rains occurred in Shenyang, Anshan, Fushun, Yingkou, Liaoyang, Tieling, Panjin and Huludao regions of Liaoning Province.

At 6 o'clock on the 22nd, Shenyang Central Meteorological Observatory issued a total of 177 early warning signals, including 19 heavy rain warning signals and 46 heavy rain orange warning signals. The Provincial Department of Land Resources and the Provincial Meteorological Bureau issued a total of 67 geological disaster warnings (including geological disasters). There were 26 warnings at level 4 and 41 warnings at level 3 for geological disasters.

The Shenyang Central Meteorological Observatory continued to issue heavy rain orange warnings at 5:00 on the 22nd on the 22nd day: During the day and nighttime on the 22nd, heavy rains and heavy rains occurred in the north of Dalian, southern Anshan, southern Fushun, Benxi, Dandong, southern Yingkou, and eastern Liaoyang.

During the heavy rainfall, the disaster situation in Dandong was serious. At 2 o'clock in the morning on August 20th to 8:00 on the 21st, there were heavy rains in the Dandong area, with an average rainfall of 163 mm and a rated rainfall of 598 mm. Affected by this, Kuandian Manchu Autonomous County was seriously affected. Some villages and villages were besieged by floods and formed islands. According to the Liaoning Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, the second largest flood since the founding of New China took place in the Dandong area. According to hydrological monitoring data, at 9:30 on the 21st, the peak discharge at the Dandong Hydrometric Station on the Yalu River reached 28,000 cubic meters per second, and the monitored water level at the Dandong Tidal Station reached 7.35 meters. According to the hydrographic records, the peak discharge of the Yalu River is second only to the 1995 figure.
