The reporter observed that when an electric bus is being recharged, it needs to go from the west side of Sihui Bus Terminal to the national grid charging station on the east side. The driver only needs to park the car to the outside of the charging room, and then change a bus that has already been charged and can complete the electricity exchange without waiting. However, the entire transfer process also takes ten minutes.

In this regard, Master Chen also has some complaints. “The bus company requires us to complete 5 laps per day, which takes about 75 minutes each time. Normally we can finish it within 8 hours, but now we have added nearly half an hour of battery replacement time, and it is easy to appear on the road. Inadequate power and slow driving, which led to the inability to complete tasks for the day during normal working hours. We can only work overtime."

The same situation also appeared on the 455 line. According to the introduction of the 455 bus driver, the 455 line is shorter than the 496, only 11.35 kilometers one-way, and only 11 stations, which is considered to be a “mini” in the Beijing bus line known for its long line station.

“This type of electric bus can only be operated on this short-term line. For such a short line, we have to exchange electricity twice. The bus terminal where pure electric buses are parked will bring the battery life to a low temperature. "I had a class at minus 5 degrees Celsius that morning. When I went to the station and found that the electric buses were parked in the parking lot outside the charging station, the staff at the charging station told me that the batteries didn't charge. The cars parked outside are all dead and there is no car that can be changed," Master Chen told reporters.

On that day, in order to ensure the normal operation of these two lines, the bus company can only transfer a batch of LNG buses from other lines to save the urgency.

“It may also be that the charging station staff was not prepared for the low temperature coming from the raid. The situation was much better the next day and the battery could be charged. However, the battery life is still not enough, in this low temperature environment. When the battery power is lower than 50%, the car feels boring,” recalled Master Chen.

What makes Mr. Chen more worried is that the coldest winter temperatures in Beijing can reach minus 15 degrees Celsius, which will be a more severe test for this group of electric buses.

Although Master Chen is not very satisfied with the performance of electric buses in low-temperature environments, he believes that these electric buses are entirely new roads, have problems and can be understood, and they also have many advantages.

“The quality of Futian's bus is still good. After all, it is also a new car. There have been no major problems so far. There are after-sales maintenance personnel in Futian at the departure and destination stations.
